Congrats to both of our basketball teams who reached the final of the Scoil Mhuire, Kanturk Basketball League. The girls team played some fantastic basketball to qualify for the semifinal against Meelin. After an epic battle, Banteer were the opponents in the final. As in all the games, they gave it absolutely everything. Banteer emerged victorious after a great team display
We couldn’t be prouder of our girls. It was fabulous to watch the determined and spirited way they played throughout the night —they showed true heart and resilience every step of the way. Special mention to Mairead who won MVP for the second year in a row. Her level of skill that everyone was privileged to witness last night was truly amazing for a 6th Class pupil. This , along with her fitness, grit and determination made her the obvious choice for MVP from all the teams competing. Well done Mairead.

We only have 7 on our boys basketball panel so it was fantastic to reach the final. On the way, they recorded wins against Derrinagree, Banteer and Freemount and defeated Newmarket in the semi final. However, they came up against a fantastic Kanturk team in the final who emerged victorious. Many thanks to Ms O Sullivan who coached both teams to the two finals and to Scoil Mhuire for organising the leagues.
